Another good question on Dan’s part. One he’d been avoiding himself. Elizabeth wanted to work at the group home so she could finish her dissertation. He couldn’t say what her plans were beyond that. Maybe he didn’t want to know.
Maybe he did.
Dallas leaped in. Again. “Then there’s always the matter of kids. I don’t know about you guys, but Hannah and I are going to have eight.”
“Way to help ease the burden of global overpopulation,” Dan congratulated him, momentarily diverted.
Eight.Didn’t that number boggle the mind? To think Ryan worried about one. “I’ll do my part by not having any.”
Dallas and Dan, the bastards, looked at each other and burst into laughter.
“Afraid that’s not all up to you, buddy,” Dallas said.
No worries there. “Elizabeth doesn’t want any, either.”
“You sure about that?”
Ryan recalled her horror over the condom incident and her quick trip to Family Planning to take care of the problem. “Positive.”
Dallas appeared a whole lot less convinced. “If you say so.”
“I do.”
Elizabeth was as practical as he was. Thanks to the group home, he could see her sliding easily into his life on the ranch on a permanent basis. He’d have to find a good time for them to discuss it.
Just not yet.
Not until he was certain of her feelings for him.
