The Montana Doctor (The Endeavour Ranch of Grand, Montana 2) - Page 30

“How about next weekend?”

Dallas was torn. Things were going okay with Hannah, but they were by no means a done deal. He was a little surprised that Dan didn’t argue either, because Jazz’s contract would soon be up and they didn’t have the logistics of their relationship ironed out yet. Thanks to prior commitments they’d be looking at a long-distance romance for the foreseeable future, so they spent every spare moment together.

The fact that Dan hadn’t argued meant this trip was important to Ryan. A guys’ weekend was something they’d done every few years since they’d graduated from college. The last was a trip to Flathead Lake three, maybe four years ago, while Dallas was finishing his residency, so they were past due.

Come to think of it, Ryan looked like he might be the one suffering from stress. Faint lines at the corners of his eyes and a touch of premature gray at his temples hadn’t been there back in January when they’d begun holding these meetings. Plus, he’d been moody for weeks. More so than usual. Guilt pinched at Dallas. He’d been happy to let Ryan make all of the Endeavour’s business decisions. A little too happy, perhaps.

Since he had to be careful not to rush Hannah, and he wasn’t the most patient of guys, this trip would provide an opportunity to give her some distance while taking care of his obligations to the Endeavour Ranch team. Ryan—Dan, too—deserved some of his time.

Plus, he really liked fly-fishing.

“A corporate retreat sounds like a great idea,” he said.
