Holiday Proposal - Page 5

"What's your story, dude," Billy asks.

"What do you want to know?"

"I saw you dancing with a woman at the bar last night. She your girl?"

I sigh and shake my head, "No, we're friends. Her original date fell through, and she asked me to come here with her."

"Dude, you were grinding up against her last night, and she's not your girlfriend?"

"No," I say defensively. I know where this is going, and my hackles rise.

"Dude, if you're not tapping that, I'm going to. Fat chicks are always eager when you give them a little attention."

"Back off," I say, anger lacing my voice, "She's not the kind of girl you fuck and dump. And I strongly advise you not to try."

"You're sure defending her a lot for someone who isn't her boyfriend."

"I don't have to be her boyfriend to look out for her. She doesn't need someone using her because they think she’s desperate. She’s not a pushover.”

"Dudes, chill out. We don't need to be fighting over any women. There are plenty of women here who are single. If I can direct your attention to those women over there," Calvin waves across the golfing green, "who’ve been checking us out for the past half hour."

"Really?" Billy shields his eyes as he looks toward the women. "Oh, hey, those are some hot chicks. If that girl isn't your girlfriend, what about one of them? That blonde with the big tits is checking you out."

Despite my lack of interest in some random hook-up, I look at the women. Sure enough, a skinny blonde is checking me out. The blonde is pretty but in a brittle way. She waves at me, and I force a weak smile.

I'm not interested.

The only woman I want is Edie.
