“So then basically what you’re saying is, we’re going to sit back and wait.”

“Yes,” he says easily. “It’s the only thing we can do at this point. Kameron isn’t dangerous, so we don’t have to worry about Megan being harmed.”

“So you don’t believe he took her, or you don’t care?” I ask him, my patience becoming thinner by the second.

“I’ll ignore your insinuation since I know you’re struggling. To answer your question, I’m choosing not to speculate, Ian,” and now I’m sure it’s Collin I’m talking to.

“They could have both decided to get away from everyone. This isn’t new for them. But we won’t know until they come back. I know you and Cal share tendencies to be rash and believe the first thing that comes to mind is right. Don’t let suspicions influence your thinking. You’ll only be pulling your own hair out if you go along with him.”

“I have my own reasons for believing he kidnapped her,” I tell him.

“But still, it’s a hard assumption to come to with so little evidence. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but you should wait before you jump to conclusions. You can worry, but don’t be angry. It’s not an emotion that influences good decision-making and rational thinking. I have to go. I’ll let you know if I come up with anything else.”

And then he’s gone.

Before I can say anything else. How the hell am I supposed to stay calm if my source of information hangs up before I can ask fucking questions?

He answered the most important ones, which were good enough but not nearly what I wanted.

The music from the bar comes out of the doors as they open and shut. I send Blue a text saying I’m heading out, and I go back to my truck, wanting to get away from everyone everywhere.
