Quinn

“Mom, I’m headedto Lucy’s.”

Quinn stood from her desk chair and stretched, then met Nikita by the office door.“Okay, honey.I’ll see you tomorrow at Rhi’s shower.”

“You still going early to help Kerrigan set up?”

“Yes.I’m picking up the flowers from Charlotte’s shop first.”

“Perfect.I’m grabbing the cupcakes on my way.Love you.Tell Dad I love him too.”Nikita kissed Quinn’s cheek and headed through the house to the garage where her new car waited.Like everything else she did, Nikita learned to drive with ease.When she passed her test, Kyllian took her to buy a cute little four-door with one of the highest safety ratings available.And, as Lucy suspected, Nikita was a whiz with computers.Nikita was with Lucy almost every day while Tamian was visiting his father, giving Quinn and Kyllian plenty of alone time.

Their new house was close to being finished, so between packing and all the sex, Quinn had been busy.Things had been close to perfect with the exception of Kyllian’s job at Dominion.The first time Quinn went with him, she walked in the door and froze.Men and women strolled through the club in various stages of dress, some completely naked.Kyllian offered to take her home then and there.She almost took him up on it until Charlotte and Wynter came over and took pity on her.Kyllian had one sub he needed to “work with” that night, and Kyllian promised she could go in the back room and watch.The sub, Brandon, was a young man who’d been in an abusive relationship.Kyllian didn’t admit his background without getting the man’s permission first.

Charlotte and Wynter were best friends, and they bantered much the way Kyllian and Nikita did.They snipped and teased each other, but it was friendly and full of love.After sitting with them for five minutes, Quinn relaxed.Kyllian admitted later to asking Spyder to have Charlotte speak to Quinn about the club and what went on there.

“How do you handle Jude doing scenes with other females?”Quinn asked her once they were seated at a booth.Kyllian was on guard duty that night, and he promised to check in with her often.

“I don’t.If he wants to do a demo, I’m his willing participant.”

“That makes sense, but Shibari is beautiful.Even I could do that.Kyllian inflicts pain.”

Wynter propped her chin on her palm and asked, “Has he explained why he does it?”

Quinn nodded.“He says he’s providing a service.Before we mated, he had a dedicated sub he had sex with afterward.He promised he would no longer do that, but if his subs get off on the pain, it’s still sexual in nature.”

“Would you be okay with it if all his clients were men?”Charlotte asked.

“Yes.”They had discussed that too.“But only one of his subs are men.I feel like I’m being petty.He’s my destined mate.I know in my soul he would never do anything to disrespect me.This is my hang-up, and I’ll learn to deal with it.”

Charlotte grabbed Quinn’s hand.“I think if it really bothers you, Kyllian will stop doing it.That’s part of being a mate, making sure your other half is always happy.”

“But I don’t want him to make all the sacrifices.”

“Uh oh,” Wynter muttered.

Quinn followed the other woman’s eyes.A young man stalked through the door and right up to Kyllian.Even with her shifter hearing she couldn’t hear what was being said.The man’s head was bent, and Kyllian had his hand on the guy’s shoulder.

“That’s Brandon,” Charlotte said.“Poor guy.He hasn’t done well with Gunnar.Silas is ready to kick him out.”

“Kick him out?Why?”

“From what Spyder said, Kyllian’s way of Domming is different than Gunnar’s.Both know how to wield the various pain implements, but Kyllian has a way of knowing exactly what they need.Like last time Kyllian dealt with Brandon, all they did was talk.”

It was that moment, that statement, that changed everything.Quinn studied psychology to understand how the mind worked.Kyllian instinctually understood what his clients needed without having taken a single class.When Kyllian looked over at her, she nodded.Go take care of him.I’m fine with Charlotte and Wynter.

Do you want to come watch?

No.He needs your undivided attention.

Quinn turned back to the two females, and Wynter was watching her closely.“Can you and Kyllian mind-speak?”

“Yes.When we first met, our animals chatted with each other, but after we were mated and things settled down, well, it just happened.”

“I’m so jealous,” Charlotte huffed.“You two are” — she looked around — “you know.It’s so not fair.”
