“You need to find a security guard.Tell them—” Nikita didn’t hear the rest of what Kyllian was saying.She tossed the phone back to its owner.When Brett and the others turned right, Nikita took off running to the left.Kyllian had the right idea.If she could find a security guard, that would get Mercy off her back for a bit.At least long enough for security to question who they were and why they were chasing her.
“Help!Security!”Nikita yelled as she ran, shoving people out of the way as she made her way back to the escalator.She needed to get to an exit before the others caught her.She ran down the escalator, apologizing as she pushed a couple to the side on her way down.She continued yelling for help as she headed away from where they parked.As she reached the entrance to one of the larger stores, a uniformed guard came into view.“Oh, thank the goddess.You have to help me.”Nikita hid behind him and pointed over his shoulder.“Those people were chasing me.”Mercy, Jeremy, and Brett slowed to a stop.Mercy glared at her, Jeremy blew out a breath and looked toward the ceiling.And Brett?He turned and walked away.Smart man.
“Let’s go, Mercy.Your revenge isn’t worth going to jail for,” Jeremy said.It wasn’t loud enough for the guard to catch, but Nikita’s Wolf heard him just fine.
Nikita glared back, daring them to come closer.The guard was no match for wolves, but she didn’t think Mercy was crazy enough to cause more of a scene where the police would be called in.
The man lifted a microphone off his shoulder and spoke to whoever was on the other end telling them of the situation and to call the police.When he received an affirmative, he put his arm around Nikita’s shoulder.“Come on.I’ll take you to the office while we wait.”
Nikita glanced over her shoulder.Jeremy was walking away as he typed on his phone, but Mercy had already disappeared into the crowd.Nikita didn’t understand.Revenge?Against who?She’d never done anything to the female, so Mercy must be using Nikita as a pawn.Once inside the office, she said, “May I please use the phone to call my parents?”
