Master of Kayos - Page 39

Chapter Twelve

Kayos

While Quinn wentto greet her father, Kyllian waited on Jericho to bring his clothes. He pulled his jeans on while sitting in the car, then got out to finish dressing.“Where is everyone?”he asked as he tied his boots.

“Spread out.A few of the wolves ran when the shooting started, and Dad figured they went back to the Alpha to report.”

“Excellent.”Kyllian clapped his nephew on the shoulder as he passed by to join Trenton and Quinn, who were in a heated discussion.

“Quinn, please.I want you out of here.”

“Dad, if you’re staying, then so am I.”

“Kyllian, would you talk some sense into her?”Trenton begged.

Kyllian knew from watching his parents that this was where he had his mate’s back.“Quinn has her own mission, same as you. There are females at the compound who might want to leave after you take out Dennis. We’re going to give them every opportunity to start over somewhere else.”

“Without an Alpha?”Trenton turned to Quinn.“Are you going to step into that role for them?Honey, I understand wanting to help, but if these females have never lived outside this pack, they won’t be able to function.”

“You’ll be their Alpha if you take out Dennis. As far as the females are concerned, that’s where the Lazlos come in.It’s what they do for those they rescue from The Ministry.”

Trenton closed his eyes and let his chin fall to his chest, releasing Quinn’s arms. She moved closer to Kyllian, and he wrapped an arm around her shoulder, pressing a kiss to her temple. He wanted her to know he had her back in every situation. He might not like or understand her decisions, but until they were mated, until they had time under their belt where they learned to compromise, he would defer to her wishes. She was a grown woman who ran a mercenary business. Not single-handedly because Trenton helped, but for the most part, she was in charge. She had been making her way for many years with little input.Kyllian wouldn’t take that away from her now.Or ever.He would offer guidance and backup, but he would never try to tamp down the strong female she was.It would be like Sutton trying to bench Rory.

Jericho stepped up beside Kyllian.“I don’t mean to interrupt, but we need to move.I just got a call from Dad that more wolves are headed this way.”

“What’s the plan?”Kyllian asked Trenton once he opened his eyes.

“I’m going to kill Dennis Hightower.”

“Then you need a distraction to bring him out of the house.”

“Do you have something in mind?”

Kyllian squeezed Quinn’s shoulder.“I do, but you aren’t going to like it.”

Before Kyllian told him the plan, they left to meet the other Hounds.Instead of hanging around where the RC pack could possibly spot them, they headed back to New Santa Rosa, and Kyllian secured a hotel suite where they could grab some breakfast from room service while making plans. While waiting on food to arrive, Kyllian reached out to Mercy to check on Nikita and discuss the broken window of the rental car since it was in her name. After they squared away the details for the car, Mercy handed the phone over to Nikita.

“Hey, Trouble,” Kyllian greeted Nikita when she answered.

“Hi, Ky,” the teen responded.

“Nope.Try again.”

Nikita laughed.“What? You can give me a nickname, but I can’t return the favor?”

“Sure you can, just not that one.”Kyllian winked at Quinn who was sitting next to him, biting her lip.He reached over and thumbed the flesh.

“Ian?”Nikita asked.

“My niece called me that a few times, but it didn’t stick.Besides, I already have a nickname. It’s Kayos.”

“That sounds like a biker name.”

“Smart girl.I am a biker.”

“Kayos, I like it.Will you take me for a ride?”

“Anytime you want. And if you stick around, I might get you your own sidecar.”
