Just for You - Page 66

It was Hammerhead.

Manic muttered a curse, then took my hand, and we walked over. I could tell he was still wound tight, and I didn’t know what to do about it. Again, I was at a loss for words, not something that happened to me very often.

Hammerhead handed Manic and me another drink and motioned to a seat across the fire.

“We could actually do with some privacy,” Manic said and tilted his head toward a group of outbuildings that were now shrouded in shadow.

The other biker smiled and clinked bottles with him. “Enjoy. Jessa even put clean sheets on the bed this morning.”

Manic gave him a chin lift and half led, half dragged me across the grassy area out behind the old factory to where there were several other smaller buildings. He strode to one with a small veranda. There was a couch there and a couple chairs with the stuffing poking out of the arms. Manic had dropped our bags here when we arrived.

He grabbed my hips and sat on the couch, pulling me onto his lap and wrapping his arms around my waist. He pressed his lips to my ear. “Don’t have to be jealous, baby,” he said, his voice still carrying an edge but not anger. “You gotta know you’re the only woman I want.”

I stilled, my heart beating faster, the heat of his muscled body soaking into me, his scent filling my head as his words hung between us.

I pressed my hands to his stomach and slid them higher, over his chest, like Francine had, like I could wipe away where her hands had been. I hated the thought of another woman, any woman, touching him.

“Good, because I only want you,” I whispered. He made a gritty sound, his fingers flexing against my hips, and then I realized how that sounded. “This weekend,” I quickly added.

I didn’t need Manic thinking I was in love with him. That I’d be heartbroken when we got home tomorrow.

Because I wasn’t any of those things, right?

I swallowed hard and my stomach churned.
