PortCity Killers - Page 95

I jumped on the change in conversation, not exactly wanting to delve into bullshit ownership laws they had made up for themselves, “What exactly are these hostess duties?”

Valentina sucked her teeth with a prim little shake of her shoulders, “Mingling, amore, you will be a socialite tonight.”

I looked at Vosco, incredulous.

“You know that just seems like a disaster for you, right? Did Bryce not mention how much I suck at people-ing?”

“You’ll be welcoming guests,” He waved off my concern, “It’s hardly a tough job.”

It was when you were a walking social dunce. How far was I expected to go through with this charade? If my main objective was to distract the twins then how the hell was I supposed to juggle people I didn’t even know without making Vosco a social pariah in the meantime.

“Your reputation.” I muttered.

Don’s smile brushed against my bare shoulder, “It can be a practice run for us.”

I knew he meant it as a joke, but the anxiety that corroded my stomach lining at the thought of having to entertain anyone, including myself, was very, very real.

Aedyn looked at his watch with a sigh, “Well, it looks about that time. You two are more than welcome to stay here, or tour the grounds before the guests arrive, but I must insist on taking Alex about and showing her the way.”

He stepped in front of me, both hands out for mine. I patted Don’s hand, relinquishing myself to Vosco. The electric current of liquid heat that tingled against our palms had his lips twitching, a devious and delightful smirk pulling at his smug face.

I’d never in my life wanted to punch someone as equally as I had wanted to kiss them. I thought I had reached that limit with Bryce when we first got together, but it was a paltry thing comparatively.

Before he could lead me away Valentina, in true Valentina fashion, had her lips on mine ripping me away from Vosco. She let out a soft, breathy moan that tingled through my body.

I wasn’t sure if the show was for me, for the men, or for her own self-assurance but my hands clutched at her shoulders just the same as I breathed her in. I was panting when her lips left mine, my skin flushed, and my body was aching for another hit of her sweetness.

Don lifted a finger to his cheek with a coy look that had me rolling my eyes. I bent down only to capture his lips just as fervently and be pushed away into Vosco’s raised brow. Evidently, he was in no mood for the twins' shenanigans, but I couldn’t say that I wasn’t.
