Relapse - Page 96

“Maybe,” Chase says, but when he looks over at me, there’s a soft smile on his handsome face. He places a hand on my shoulder, running it softly down my back and sending shivers up my spin. “Don’t worry, sweetheart, I’ll teach you everything you need to know.” The words are low and sensual and heat shoots through my core.

“And that is why he chose bowling, just so he could use his little pickup lines and use the old, here, let me show you how to do it.” Nathan leans over the seat and smacks Chase upside the head. “Stop being an idiot.”

With that he gets out of the car and Emmet follows suit as Chase laughs, his eyes still on me.

“Is he right?” I ask in amusement.

“Of course he is. Prime dates are the bowling alley, golfing, or the batting cages, just so you can get behind your date and guide them through the motions.” That wolfish grin returns and I shake my head at his antics. “Of course it backfires when your date is a better athlete than you, but it’s only happened a couple of times in my experience.”

“So you’re using the same moves that you’ve used on others on me?”

His grin widens. “Why try something new when I have a proven method that works?”

I shake my head at him, laughing. “Such a charmer,” I can’t help the sarcasm in my voice.

My car door opens and I’m unsurprised to find Nathan waiting for me. When I step out, he sweeps me into his arms. He pulls me in close and plants a kiss on my lips. His warm hands wrap around my waist and I moan as the kiss deepens.

“Hey, hey, break it up, or I’ll have to give you two a ticket,” Chase says, putting a hand between the two of us.

Nathan pulls away from me and stares at the hand that’s now stuck between us as if it’s the most offensive thing he’s ever seen. He turns his eyes to Chase. “And what would the ticket be?” He pushes Chase out of the way and grabs my hand as Emmet settles in on my other side.

Chase shrugs. “I don’t know, maybe not letting Chase in on the action.”

I laugh. “Of course, because that’s a real thing.” He only smiles.

When we get in the bowling alley, the noise of bowling balls cracking against pins and pop music fills my ears. But I’m more focused on the smell of fried food that assaults my nostrils and my stomach starts to growl a little.

Emmet looks over at me. “Hungry?”

“Starving.”

“I’ll take you to grab something while they get our lane.”

He takes my hand from Nathan and guides me down to the cafe. My eyes widen at all the things on the menu. “Holy shit, this is a prime date because of the food options alone.”

Emmet laughs. “Yeah, it’s unhealthy food heaven.” His eyes roam the menu. “But I love it.”

I try to decide what I want before finally settling on a cheeseburger and cheese fries to start. “Fuck, you guys may have to roll my ass out of here once I’m done.”

We order our food and they give us a buzzer to take back to our lane to wait for the food to be ready.

We find Chase and Nathan near the end and I take in how busy the alley is. I didn’t expect this to be our date, but I’m sure it’ll be enjoyable. If anything, it already is because of the food.

“Did you order us anything?” Chase asks, pushing his brown hair out of his face as he looks at Emmet.

Emmet nods, but there’s a small smirk on his face. “Yeah, I ordered a pizza.”

Chase narrows his hazel eyes. “Pepperoni?”

“Ham and sausage.”

Chase scowls at him. “You know I like pepperoni.”

“Not my problem.” Emmet plops down in one of the chairs at the table, looking more than a little satisfied with himself.

I can’t help but to watch him in amusement. Usually, Chase is the one being mischievous and pestering everyone else, but the tables have turned.

I look at Nathan and he rolls his eyes, shaking his head. He chooses to ignore them as he heads over to the monitor to get the game set up.
