Perfect Addiction (Perfect 2) - Page 101

TWENTY-SEVEN

As I step foot into Caffeinated, I have only one mission.

Brent had unsurprisingly scrambled out of the apartment after he got kicked out of the room by Kayden, but that didn’t stop me from tracking him down via his Instagram to our favorite coffee spot. And as expected, he, Evans, and Cara are lounging at one of the tables outside the cafe, all wearing smiles as they chat lightly with each other. I made the mistake of introducing Cara to them a while back and now they can’t stop hanging out with each other.

I stomp over to them, anger singing in my body. Cara, who’s sitting at the edge of the table, notices me, and her expression turns wary. She nudges Brent, who’s midway through eating his tuna sandwich, on the shoulder, and he whips his head around. Fear immediately seizes his entire body, already knowing why I’ve come.

“Key,” I yell as I approach him, sticking my hand out.

“Now.”

Brent swallows his bite. He lays his sandwich down on the table with shaky hands. “Sienna, what a nice surprise—”

“I’m not fucking around,” I snap impatiently. “You broke the treaty.”

Brent doesn’t think twice about it. He releases a conceding sigh and reaches into his pocket to dig around for the key. “Dammit.”

Evans, who is seated opposite him, cuts a glare at his boyfriend as Brent drops the key into my palm. “What the hell did you do?”

Brent looks down at his sandwich shamefully. “I walked in on Kayden giving Sienna h—”

“Hockey tips,” I interject quickly. “We’re going for a lesson down at Lowell this weekend.”

None of them look like they’re buying my story one bit.

Evans and Cara jerk their heads to Brent, whose face has turned as red as a fire truck.

A look of disbelief crosses Evans’s face when he swivels back toward me. “You and Kayden hooked up?”

“Well. . . yeah,” I admit, voice softening for a moment.

“It was supposed to be a private and intimate moment until Brent showed up.”

Brent throws his arms up in aggravation. “For the last time, I’m sorry. I swear I didn’t know you guys were doing it.”

“You should have been to paint ball, Brent. They were all over each other. Making out in the fort,” Cara mentions casually, uncrossing and crossing her legs. “If the other team wasn’t about to ambush us, they probably would have done it right then and there.”

I scoff at her accusation. “I have way more class than that.”

Cara turns in Brent and Evans’s direction, her shoulder shrugging. “Maybe you guys shouldn’t have gone to the Ritz-Carlton. Then you wouldn’t have missed out on all of this.”

“You kidding me? It was an amazing weekend. Screw our friends,” Evans mutters, reaching over to grab Brent’s sandwich to steal a huge bite. He leaves a measly little piece for Brent to finish, earning him a death glare from its owner.

“That two-hour spa was insane. I would sell both my kidneys to go back there.”

“If you didn’t have your kidneys, they’d be massaging a corpse,” Brent says matter-of-factly.

“So how was it?” Cara jerks her head in my direction, a barely restrained smile on her lips. “The sex?”

“Oh my God, I don’t wanna hear it!” Brent cries dramatically, his hands flying up to cover his ears. Evans lets out a breathy chuckle.

“Relax. I don’t kiss and tell,” I say.

A pause. Cara swings her attention to Evans, then to Brent, and then back to me.

“Tell me later?”

I nod, fighting a smile. “Tell you later.”
