Perfect Addiction (Perfect 2) - Page 99

“I can take it. Plus, I think it’ll be nice. Just a simple one.”

“What do you want to get a tattoo of?”

“Maybe . . .” I blurt out the idea off the top of my head.

“Your initials.”

He blinks at me, as if he didn’t quite hear me right.

“My initials,” he echoes skeptically.

I gulp hard, wishing I could retract what I just said. It does sound pathetic when I replay those words back in my head, since it has only been a few hours since we decided we were officially in a relationship.

“Yeah . . . maybe not.” I say, immediately backtracking on my suggestion. “It was a stupid idea. Forget I ever said anything.”

“No. It’s not stupid.” Kayden shakes his head, easing my worries. “Lately I’ve been thinking of getting one too. I want the word Lucky right over here.” He takes my hand in his and presses it over the skin of the only space on his chest that isn’t inked.

The place above his heart.

I trace my finger lightly over the empty space and his eyes follow the line of movement.

“It might be too soon,” I admit quietly. “To get each other’s names as tattoos.”

“Perhaps,” he says thoughtfully. “But maybe it doesn’t matter. I don’t ever want to forget this. I want to remember you—everything about you. I want to remember what it’s like to be with you. It doesn’t matter if in five or ten years we’re just a memory to each other. When I look at your name on my heart, I want to remember that you once had it.

And I once had yours.”

I stay quiet, inhaling in his beautiful words. Somehow the thought of this thing with Kayden being temporary fills me with sorrow. But I know he means well. He’s just stating the truth.

Sometimes couples don’t stay together.

I don’t know if that will be the case with our relationship, but I really hope not. This thing between us is special.

Kayden is the only person who can make me feel like this.

He makes me cry from laughter and soothes me afterward with gentle words of expression. He makes me want to get a tattoo of his initials and stay in bed with him all day, floating in his featherlight kisses. He makes me feel cared for and protected and leaves no room for doubt.

But the best thing is that he makes me feel like we’re true comrades, walking into battle with each other knowing that we’re going to give it all that we’ve got.

Kayden’s finger floats to my mouth and traces the outline of my lips. “What are you thinking about?”

“You,” I say with tender smile. “And how amazing you are.”

“Huh. I like this new side of you,” he notes, stifling a smile of his own as he leans back against the bed frame.

“Dishing out compliments like this. It’s so refreshing.”

“Well, don’t get used to it. I might decide to stop being nice again.”

Kayden frowns at my warning.

“Hey, that’s no way to treat your boyfriend,” he murmurs, flipping me onto my back. Warm lips brush the side of my throat and I let out a moan. “You give and you get, Lucky.

Give me nice and loving Sienna, and I promise I’ll return the favor. Tenfold.”

“That’s ambitious,” I note dryly.

“That’s a promise.” He corrects me, his warm body sliding down mine. His head is now nestled between my legs. “How about I give you a little taste?”
