An Assassin's Oath - Page 60

Because I’m falling for you, Ezra, I’m falling, and for the first time in my life, I’m fucking terrified.

I pull back to look at her. “Because it’s who I am. It’s what I need. I have no emotions or a conscience, Ezra, I don’t. You’re a good fuck, but you don’t have what it takes to truly satisfy my needs. It doesn’t matter how much I want you, or crave you…I need more.” Her gaze drops, and she deflates when I pull away from her, she remains silent. “Get inside and get to bed,” I order, and without a word, I watch as she climbs out of the pool, picks up her clothes before she walks inside the guest house with me following close behind.

“I’m going to shower.” She mutters, and I nod, observing her walk off toward the bathroom. Honestly, resisting my feral urges to lift her up, lay her out at the edge of the pool with her legs spread wide while I devour her pussy was a fucker of a challenge. I want her so fucking much it’s driving me nuts. I’m losing my bearings, I say one thing, and I’m doing another. I need to get a fucking grip before this all blows up in my face.

Now, I need to wait for her to fall asleep, so I can sneak into her father’s office and do what I came here to do— uncover all the information on Mr. Quintero’s illegal activities and bring the fucker and his allies to their knees. I pick up my cell and dial Jasper.

“Damien.”

“Jasper, I need you to hack the security system in the Quintero mansion. I’ll need to get into Hugo’s office and access the files on his computer. Once I’m in, you to hack into his computer and find whatever information you can about his partnership or involvement with Lorenzi. There’s bound to be something on there. Make a copy of everything you find for me, understood?”

“Sure. You got it.” I can already hear his fingers flying over his keyboard.

“Great. Don’t forget to erase the footage. I was never in there.”

“Sure thing. I got you.” He says, and I hang up. He’s a man of very few words, but the kid is a genius.

An hour goes by,and Ezra has finally fallen asleep. I look at the time on my watch, at three o’clock in the morning. I check in on Ezra once more before leaving the guest house. I need eyes on her while I’m inside the main house, so I have two guards stood outside the front door. “Eyes and ears open. You protect my wife with your lives. I don’t need to remind you what I will do if anything happens to her. Nothing goes past you, not a fucking fly. Am I clear?” They nod in unison. “Good.”

I make my way to the main house. I lean down and pick the lock to the back door, which leads to the kitchen. I hear the click and slide the door open a crack and sigh when the alarm doesn’t go off. Good work, Jasper. I slip into the dark house and make my way to Hugo’s office. The halls were dark, the house eerie with the help asleep in their quarters. I navigate through the hallway toward the office, which was up ahead. I stop and strain my ears to hear if anyone was around but heard nothing, so I turn the handle on the door. It's locked. Of course. I kneel and use my lock pick to unlock the door, the door clicks open, and I smirk.

I quietly push the door and slip in, closing it behind me before turning and scanning the room. It was dark. I could barely make anything out save for the dim moonlight filtering through the blinds. I move around the big mahogany desk and shake his mouse till his screen comes to life with a subtle beep. I sit in his chair and bite my bottom lip. “Alright, Hugo. Let’s see what skeletons you’ve got stashed away in your closet, shall we.” When it begins moving on its own, I stare at the screen, window after window opening, the mouse flying over the screen. Jasper has remotely taken over the computer and is working his magic.

My cell buzzes, and I answer. “Jasper?”

“I’m in. I’m going to copy the hard drive on this end. He has some big files which are encrypted, so it will take me a little while to crack them.”

I frown. “Big files? Videos?”

“Seems so.” He mutters, typing away furiously. “I’ll dig a little deeper and see what I find.”

“Everything you can find. Money transfers, emails, tap into his phone records if you can. I want to know everyone he’s been talking to. Let me know when you’ve found something.” I hang up. While he’s busy doing his thing, I search the room, search his desk. A man like Hugo wouldn’t leave anything incriminating lying around for anyone to find. A safe. There must be a safe of some sort somewhere in this room. I move around the desk, looking behind every photo mounted on the wall. I search the room inch for inch. Nada. I’ll bet he has a safe in his office somewhere. Might have to investigate if I can’t find what I’m looking for on his home computer. Lastly, I set up a small listening device under his desk, and after one last quick look around the room, I leave the home office and go back to the guest house.

I’ve been gone for two hours; the sun will be coming up soon, and my head was pounding. I dismiss the guards at the door, and they go back to their posts outside the house. Ezra was still sound asleep in bed. I try not to wake her as I undress into my boxers and slide into bed beside her. I watch her sleep for a while. I reach out, trailing my fingers along her jaw, brushing a strand of her hair out of her beautiful face.

I sigh, “What are you doing to me.”

It took some time for my mind to shut off and finally fall asleep.
