“You let her get away?!” Darius yells into my empty bedroom.

“Nope.” I say as I unlock my phone’s screen.

“She’s not here, asshole.” Santos spreads his arms and turns on the spot.

“I know,” I nod.

“He let my future wife get away.” Santos sinks to the bed, “I had visions of Bonnie and Clyde.”

“Will you shut up?” I snap at him.

“Where is she?” Blaze asks from over my shoulder.

“Three blocks down and just got in a vehicle.” I answer him.

“What the fuck? You put a tracker on her phone?” Darius’ grin takes over his whole face.

“Yeah,” I smirk back at him, “just before I got in the shower with her.”

His grin immediately falls and Santos jumps to his feet with a snarl, but Blaze grunts at me.

“Let’s go follow this bitch and find out what she’s all about,” Blaze says then stalks towards the door.

“You two stay here,” I point to Santos and Darius.

They each give me an eye roll but know it's the smart thing to do since the Diablos attacked us. It's been a while since they had the nerve to roll up on us and I think it has everything to do with my father. Maybe he's switching crews since our last argument.

We hop in Blaze's Camaro and death metal goth assaults my ears.

"I don't know how you listen to this shit," I say as I turn it down.

"Helps me concentrate," he replies.

I guide him to where the dot is moving on my screen and my heart kicks up in speed. It's been a while since I've been on the hunt and I have to admit, it's one of my favorite things to do. I used to be so fucking good at it but then I realized I was hunting down girls for my father to rape and ship off as sex slaves.

"Just up here." I point to an apartment complex. "This is where she lives?"

Saying it's run down would be an understatement. The place has windows boarded and homeless sleeping out front. The bushes have begun to take over the walkway and started to grow their way up to the front door, which is hanging on by one hinge.

"Was that a rat?" Blaze asks as we see something the size of a cat scurry out.

"You stay with the car." I tell him because this car would be screaming to be stolen here. "I'll head in and see what's up."

I pull out my gun and hold it in my right hand as I get out of the car and make my way up the walkway. I enter the building and choke on a gag, covering my nose with my sleeve. It stinks of urine and maybe a rotting body somewhere.

The dot told me she was on the far-right corner of the building and I am cursing myself for following her here. I could very well die from the stench alone, she can't possibly be living here, and if she is then she's not charging her clients near enough.

I walk down a short corridor and watch how each apartment becomes more and more decrepit. Doors hang off hinges showing rotting furniture and what could be blood stains on the floors. I get to the last one and the door is completely missing, the door jamb destroyed like someone kicked it down.

I creep inside and look around at the total destruction of the place. The couch is ripped apart and missing its cushions, there are dishes smashed all over the floor, and what looks to be a girl's barbie house is completely destroyed.

"I noticed the tracker when I got into the cab." Her voice hits my back and I turn to see her standing in the kitchen area, flipping her knife in the air. "Smart."

"What is this place?" I ask as I holster my gun.

"I grew up here," she nods to the Barbie house. "That was mine. My sister worked overtime for two weeks just so she could afford that for Christmas."
