Dino drives like hell is chasing him, and after a few miles I have to tell him to chill the fuck out or we’ll get pulled over by the police. I didn’t notice before, but I see it now. Viola is covered in blood. The last thing we need are the cops questioning us.
Viola is staring straight ahead, looking white as a sheet, while Rebecca holds her hand in a death like grip. Rebecca hasn’t said a word the entire time. Apart from her hair which is darker, Rebecca looks like Viola. She has the same eyes.
“Is your mum okay?” I say to Viola after we’ve slowed down and we’re sure no one is following us.
“She’s fine. This is how she is. Sometimes she doesn’t talk,” Viola says, jaw clenched as she holds her mother’s hand.
“Where’s Lily?” Dino asks, glancing up at the rearview mirror.
It only dawns on me then that Lily is fucking missing.
Viola shakes her head. “She wasn’t there. Dante went to look for her, so we got separated. He’s going to join us later.”
I nod, choosing to keep my concerns to myself. Dante can take care of himself. Of that I’ve no fucking doubt.
When we get back to the school, Quinn looks after Rebecca just like she did with Pascal. Quinn is a goddamn saint. I’ve no idea why she’s putting up with us all and sticking around, but I’m grateful. She reminds me of Saskia in a way. Fuck, I need to call my sister. I haven’t spoken to her in weeks.
I take myself off outside to one of the quads and dial her number.
“You’ve got to be kidding me. It’s 2 a.m. in the morning, Lor. Who died? Because that’s got to be the reason you’re interrupting my beauty sleep,” Saskia growls down the phone.
I chuckle. “Goddamn. It’s so nice to hear your voice.”
“So, no one died?”
“Dante, maybe,” I say in a lowered tone.
“Good fucking riddance. I hate that man. He tried to kill me once, remember?”
“How could I forget,” I say darkly. But I did forget. It’s all just fucked up. That’s the reality of it. When Viola was out of my life, I knew what I was doing, and what I was aiming for. And now she’s back in it, I’m in a fucking hurricane being dragged in a thousand different directions. And the eye of the storm, namely Viola, keeps on pulling me back to the middle of it all.
“Poetic, brother. Is that your wedding speech?”
I snort. I must have said that out loud. Fuck me I’m tired.
“We should meet up soon.”
“Only if you bring Viola. My girl time has been severely lacking since you left me in this hell hole of a school to go off and single-handedly run Joseph’s empire.”
I say goodnight and hang up, and then walk back into the dorms. Being back here has some dark memories attached. I’ll be glad when that psycho converts this place into an apartment complex. This dump needs a facelift, and a new soul for that matter. Before Viola got here it was fucking pitch black.
I’m about to take my usual spot on the sofa when the door to Viola’s room opens. “In here,” she says, jerking her head to indicate I come inside her room.
I give her a look to make sure. She’s washed the blood from her face and she’s wearing some of Quinn’s pajamas. A set with cats on the front and words that say, ‘Cats Sleep Anywhere…Like Me’. It’s too fucking cute.
With a sigh I follow her into her room. I’m not so surprised to see Dino already in the bed. Viola crawls into the middle of it, beside Dino, leaving a space to the right. I take that as my cue to join them, undressing as I walk toward the side that’s empty. I drop a kiss on her shoulder as I ease myself in behind her. She’s got her ass sticking out of the bedsheets and her face on Dino’s chest. She sighs as I slip a hand up her pajama top and squeeze her breast, just like I always used to.
Immediately, I’m hard.
“I’m not in the mood to fuck,” she mumbles.
I kiss the back of her neck. “I know, sweetheart,” I say.
But after a minute, she pushes back against me, rubbing herself all over my cock.
