Sofia (The Corsetti Empire) - Page 39

“Am I underdressed?” she said, stepping back and taking in his attire.

“No, you are perfect.”

“What’s with that?” she said, pointing at the blindfold in his hand.

“A surprise.”

“Another one?”

“I have quite a few planned for the weekend. Now turn around so I can cover your eyes.”

“I need to get my things and lock up, and how are you going to get me to the car if I’m blindfolded?”

“Little Nixie, you are going to have to learn to trust me this weekend. I will not let anything hurt you, do you understand?” he whispered into her ear as he secured the blindfold tightly, blacking out everything she could see.

“I want you to stay right where you are. I’ll get everything you’ll need. Is your bag in the bedroom?”

“Yes, I left it on the bed.”

“Perfect.”

She stood there in her foyer feeling kind of ridiculous and slightly anxious. She trusted Ozzie, but this wasn’t exactly what she was expecting for a Friday night date.

“I have everything. Now take my arm and we will head to the car.”

“Did you get my phone?”

“I told you to trust me, didn’t I?”

“Yes.”

“That’s a good girl. Now one step in front of the other for me, please.”

Something about the way he complimented her compliance made sparks go off inside her. She had already realized that his dirty words in bed did things to her she would never admit to anyone but him. The way he made her ask him for what she wanted and told her how dirty she was just brought out a whole new side of her. But when it was all over, he’d hold her in his arms and tell her how pleased he was with her, how she was his good little Nixie, and that part she couldn’t get enough of. With her right hand, she reached out and grasped his forearm as he led her down the hallway and into the elevator. She couldn’t see anything, but she could sense where they were from the familiarity of her apartment building. Once the elevator stopped, he placed a hand on her back and encouraged her to move forward. They made it through the front doors of her apartment complex and the sounds of the busy street, as well as the smell of Cuban food from the little restaurant on the corner, assailed her. After taking just a few steps forward, he stopped her.

“Stay here and don’t move.”

She heard him as he opened a car door and then closed it. Then she heard a second door open, and she felt his hands on her hips walking her forward until he told her to stop and picked her up, placing her in what must have been his Land Rover.

“This isn’t your date car,” she said with a laugh once he closed her in and made his way around to the driver’s side.

“I know you like the Ferrari, but I wanted a little more space for the ride.”

“Are we going far?”

“No, but you may be tired when we leave in the morning, and I want you comfortable on the ride home.”

“Home?”

“I thought we were spending the weekend together.”

She felt Ozzie’s hand on her leg and the car start. “When we are done here, I’m taking you home with me. I figured it’s about time to show you where I live.”

Sofia smiled as Ozzie put the car in gear and took off. They spent all of their time together at her house. At first it was because she didn’t want to leave Jenny home alone at night, but Ozzie had also shared with her he wouldn’t subject her to his parents if he could help it. His mother had a key to his apartment and had a habit of showing up unannounced. Since his argument with his father, those visits seemed to be more frequent. Whenever it happened, he would be in a bad mood for a few days that she couldn’t help him shake. He told her he had planned to have the locks changed since she refused to give the key back. The thought that he cared enough about her to change his locks in order to provide them with the privacy they would need was something she admired about him. Ozzie didn’t talk much through the drive. He had one hand on the wheel, the other one never left her body. He ran it up and down her leg, held her hand, massaged the back of her neck, all while driving them to their destination. She was nervous and babbling for most of it, but he didn’t seem to mind.

“We’re here,” he said as he put the car into park. Both of the car doors opened, causing Sofia to jump in her seat.

“It’s okay, Nixie, he’s just the valet. I’ll be right around to get you.”
