Lure (A Hitman's Bait 1) - Page 68

Time flew by as I had fun with Master and his teaser wand. Master didn’t play nice and didn’t let me catch the little birdie at the end of the wand, but that was okay. If I had, I would have probably become bored with the game. I prowled around him, swishing my behind, my tail moving.

I pounced on Master, scratching at him.

“Bad kitty.” He squirted me with a spray bottle of water, and I retreated. Miffed, I ignored Master and prowled the room, investigating my space. Master allowed me to explore but didn’t take his eyes off me. The farther I got away from him, the more I kept checking that he was still there. He smiled at me as though amused to watch me ignore him. I wiggled my behind at him, swishing my tail, and my chest swelled with pride at the heat in his eyes.

The kitty who had been lounging on top of the cupboard leaped down and circled me, sniffing at me. I stood still and allowed him to scent me. He turned back, and disappointment bloomed in my chest. I would have liked to make a friend.

A ball hit my right front paw, and I glanced up. He bobbed his head. Oh, he’d batted the ball at me. I meowed, and so did he. I’d made a friend!

Curious kitty and I played with the ball, prancing around the room and getting rowdier and rowdier. So much so that the dungeon monitor instructed us to play nice. Master was in conversation with the Leatherman who’d tried to get his attention earlier. A few other Doms had come in and were watching us play. I ignored them and turned back to my new friend. I liked him. He played rough, and I loved our tussle, even if the dungeon monitor had thought we were playing too hard.

We passed a ball of yarn between us, lazily unraveling it. I was so focused on my end, I startled at the hand stroking my tail. I flipped over onto my back, but instead of Master, a familiar face peered down at me. I scrambled on all fours and hissed at him.

“I always thought you were meant to be a puppy,” the human said. “But maybe I was wrong.”

I shuffled away from him, but he caught my ankle. I raked a claw down his arm, drawing blood. He swore, and I clamped my eyes shut and curled up in a ball, my arms over my head, bracing myself for the worst.

“Fuck, you’re breaking my arm!”

I opened my eyes. Master had the bad human in a tight hold with his arm twisted up behind his back. As the dungeon monitor hurried over, a loud pop sounded in the room, followed by a howl.

The kitty I’d been playing with came over and rubbed his head along my side. I took comfort from the contact while Master faced off with the dungeon monitor.

“I thought this was a safe space. He touched him without consent and almost kicked him.”

Whatever the dungeon master said was too low for me to hear, but Master didn’t look any more appeased.

“I should break his fucking foot next,” Master snarled. Another monitor had come in and now took hold of the abusive human and led him from the room.

“My apologies, sir,” the dungeon master said. “I promise he won’t set foot in this club ever again.”

“For his sake, I hope not.”

“I think your kitty might need comfort more than that man needs your ire right now.”

Master rushed over to me, concern and care glowing in his gaze. I rubbed my head on his leg. I’m fine. Just a bit shaken up. Master reached down and scooped me up in his arms. I placed my front paws on his shoulders and rested my head on his chest.

“I think you’ve had enough excitement for one night,” Master said. “Let’s wind you down, and then we can get out of here.”
