The Night the King Claimed Her - Page 53

They were losing too much time.

‘I’m not sure if this has registered with you, but I’m naked right now.’

‘It has registered, actually.’ He grinned. ‘I like it.’

‘Yeah, well, if you want us to sneak around the palace like rebellious teenagers, then you might want to find us something to wear. I’ll probably get caught on the security cameras and I don’t need any more unflattering footage up on the Internet.’

With an exasperated growl he went into his dressing room and returned wearing black shorts and holding a white tee shirt. He ripped the tag off it and handed it to her.

‘You have a wardrobe full of new clothes?’

‘You already know I’m spoilt. No need to judge harder.’

‘I’m not. I’m delighted. It’s very handy this second.’ She slid the tee on; it hung on her like a dress.

He stared at her. ‘You can make literally anything look good.’

She flushed. ‘Stop charming me.’

The only thing he wanted to stop right now was time and that was impossible even for him. ‘Let’s go.’

‘Where?’

‘There are over a thousand rooms in this castle, did you know that?’ He winked at her. ‘That’s not counting the secret ones.’

‘A thousand rooms and you choose that theatre to sleep in?’ She laughed as she followed him down the corridor. ‘Honestly, Felipe.’

‘You have to admit it has its benefits...’

‘Your enhancements should include silk ropes. You could hang them from the balcony railing,’ she provoked him slyly. ‘Work on a naked aerial circus act...’

Silk ropes? He turned back and saw the playful gleam in her eyes. ‘That’s a stunning idea.’

‘Thank you.’ Elsie almost had to run to keep up with him. The corridor was narrow and barely lit and had lost all the luxury palace feel. This part was pure hand-hewn stone. He paused by an oak door.

‘What’s this?’ she asked, aware of the vitality and anticipation in his gorgeous eyes.

‘My secret. It was a trade, right? I’m looking forward to my reward orgasm already.’ He opened the door.

‘Your—’ She broke off and stared at the view he’d just exposed. The door led to a ledge on the edge of a cliff. The sapphire sea gleamed metres below. ‘Don’t tell me you—’

‘Cliff-jump? Absolutely.’

Her heart raced. ‘I thought you weren’t a risk taker. You’re jumping into the open sea and have to avoid those rocks.’ She glanced down at the water and then back at him worriedly. ‘They’re big rocks, Felipe.’

‘And I’ve managed to avoid them every day for the last decade. Trust me. It looks harder and scarier than it is. It’s actually easy. You game?’

She really wasn’t. But she wasn’t going to say no. This was their one night—and it was barely light. She could have a few more moments. ‘Are there sharks?’

He chuckled. ‘Hold my hand, I’ll get us into the right spot.’

She held his hand. Hard. The water was a shock and she let go of him, gasping as she surfaced.

‘I didn’t think it would be this cold!’ She glared at him indignantly when he laughed. ‘I thought it would be like a bath. The beach is so much warmer than this.’

‘Because the water here is deeper.’ He swam towards her with energy and a huge smile. ‘And it’s very early. And you were hot from being in bed.’

‘I’m not hot now.’
