The Lawyer (The Dalton Brothers 1) - Page 60

Dominick

After two weeks of traveling, Jenner was back in town, and Ford had gotten a babysitter for the night, meaning only one thing.

We were going out.

And the place they’d chosen was one of the most popular clubs in Hollywood.

The same one where Kendall would be filming tonight.

I didn’t like the idea of being in her space while the cameras were rolling, not being able to talk to her, not being able to put my fucking hands on her.

Watching her act as though she were single.

But I had no choice. We had a secret to maintain, and that was the path I’d chosen.

I wasn’t surprised when the guys had picked a table in the corner of the bar, a spot that allowed us to see the whole VIP section, Kendall and her costars and their entire production crew in the center.

It was fucking excruciating to watch her from this far away, seeing how goddamn beautiful she looked in that red dress. I couldn’t touch her upper thigh when the material rode high on her legs or squeeze that perfect fucking ass that I’d been thinking about nonstop since she’d let me fuck it.

I couldn’t whisper in her ear, inhaling her scent, feeling the softness of her skin against my lips.

I could only observe.

With my hands to myself.

And I had to make sure I didn’t flirt with her from all the way over here, so the producers didn’t pick up on any signs. Raising their attention was the last goddamn thing I needed.

So, instead, I drank, the waitress topping off my glass with the bottle we’d ordered whenever she came over to check on us.

But that didn’t stop my brothers from fucking ogling at her cast, giving me their thoughts on each member.

“That one,” Ford said, nodding toward Delilah, “she’s fire.”

“And trouble,” I warned.

“Oh, yes, I can attest to that,” Jenner said. “A bite that’s not worth the bark.”

Ford looked at us. “But her tits”—he shook his head—“they have to be at least triple Ds.”

“There’s no denying that,” Jenner agreed. “But trust me, man, stay far away.”

I held the glass against my lips, tasting the sourness of the lime as it floated on top of the ice cubes. “Unless you want to be in my kind of hell, dodging the cameras, avoiding outings”—I knew my brothers felt the same as me about being in the public eye—“you should keep your distance.”

Ford looked away from her. “You’re right … I’m good.” He took a long drink. “But Jesus, fuck, she’s hot.”

“They all are,” Jenner responded.

“Nah.” I glanced at the wild-haired beauty in the middle, the one all the girls flocked to—my fucking queen. “None of them even compare to Kendall.”

“Our brother has finally found himself a girl after how many years?” Ford stopped to jokingly count on his fingers and added, “You know we’re not going to comment on her.”

“I’m steering clear from that as well,” Jenner agreed. “But I will say”—he punched my bicep—“you did well, Dominick. Really fucking well.”

“I second that,” Ford said.

Brett was suddenly standing in front of our table, his hand pounding each of our fists before he sat. “What are you motherfuckers doing here tonight?”

We hadn’t had a chance to speak today, so I hadn’t realized he would be here, but I wasn’t shocked at his presence. He tried to stop in wherever his clients were shooting.

“The boys and I came by for a drink,” I told him.

“For someone who wants to keep things wrapped up, you chose an interesting location for vodka.”

I pointed at Jenner and Ford. “It’s their fault.”

He laughed. “Oh, I’m sure they handcuffed and dragged your ass here, and you had no say in this whatsoever.”

“Listen”—I chuckled before I took a sip—“she’s been filming all over town, and I haven’t visited any of the spots until now.”

He squeezed my shoulder. “I’m just giving you a hard time, buddy.” He looked in Kendall’s direction, but my eyes stayed on him, where it was safe. “You plan on dancing with her tonight?”

“Hell no.”

He laughed again. “I was in the production office this morning, watching some of the footage they were editing from the earlier shoots. The executives are pleased with her performance.” He sighed, grinning. “I’m talking, really pleased.”

I added more tonic to my glass. “That means two things, my man. More fucking money that we can negotiate and more endorsements that’ll be rolling in.”

He nodded. “A contract came in this afternoon; I haven’t even had the chance to tell her yet.”

“Anything good?”

He pulled out his phone, tapping the screen, scrolling. His brows rose as he looked at me. “Balmy Hard Seltzer. Isn’t that the brand that just dropped Daisy?”

I crossed my leg over my knee, resting my drink on top of it. “Yes. Fuck.”

“Apparently, they want to keep it in the family.” He shook his head. “I’m not even sure what to say about that.”

“Kendall won’t do it.”

“No?”

“Hell no. She won’t stir the pot.” I stole a quick glance at her. She was standing with two of the girls, dancing in front of the couch, their arms around each other. “We’ll wait for the next deal and get that brand to double their offer.”

Ford poured himself more vodka. “I fucking love those words.”

I turned to him. “Because you know I’ll make it happen, brother.”

“You’ve got that right,” Brett said. “I’m going to make her famous, and you’re going to make her rich as fuck.”

“Now, that’s one hell of a team,” Jenner said.

We all laughed, and Brett continued, “Since you told me things were moving forward between you guys, I haven’t asked how it’s going. I’m assuming all is good?”

“Very fucking good.” I didn’t want to glance Kendall’s way again, but I had to. Just a taste. A tease. Fuck. “She’s everything I didn’t know I wanted.”

“Never thought I’d hear you say that,” Jenner responded.
