Pretty Little Sins (Kings of Bolten 2) - Page 61

Dominic tensed against me. Even Vincent looked confused. No one sat at the kings’ table but me and them. Even Aubrey wasn't allowed to sit with us.

“Not eating?” Vincent asked as Celeste stood awkwardly beside Levin with her tray in her hands.

“Fucking spaghetti. Even my German ass knows that doesn’t count as spaghetti.” Levin paused and looked to Celeste. “You can sit.”

She set her tray, containing a bowl of fruit and milk, down as she slid into the spot beside him. I chewed my bite of salad slowly then put my fork down, my appetite disappearing. Dominic picked my fork up and speared more lettuce onto it.

“Open,” he commanded.

I let him feed me. Levin stared at us for a moment before he looked away. I waited for Dominic to say something to Celeste about sitting with us. When he didn’t, I leaned into him and buried my face in his neck.

Vincent and Levin talked as Celeste poked at her fruit.

“Why is she sitting here?” I asked softly in Dominic’s ear.

His hand slid up and down my back.

“Because the alternative is her sitting at her own table and taking Levin with her. The kings look weak if we don't remain together,” he answered back in my ear, his lips skimming gently. “So play nice.”

“Make me.” I nipped at his earlobe.

He ran his fingers up my leg and beneath my skirt. “Gladly.”

“Aren’t you guys cute,” Celeste broke in.

I pulled away from Dominic and glared at her as his hand stopped its dangerous trek.

“Who would've thought Dominic would ever fall for someone? It’s all over school. Your marriage. Did you guys really get married?” Celeste continued, eyeing my ring.

“Yes,” Dominic said before I could answer.

“It was a beautiful wedding. They got married at sunset,” Vincent said, winking at me.

I sneered back at him which only made him grin wider.

“My boy, Levin, was his best man,” Vincent continued.

“I wasn’t. You were,” Levin grunted, glancing at me before looking to Celeste. “Come here.”

I tensed as he patted his thighs. She eagerly rose and climbed onto his lap.

That son of a bitch.

“I’m surprised Levin is going out with you,” I spoke up, glaring at him.

Her eyes widened. “Why would you say that?”

“Because he was seeing someone else just before you.”

She narrowed her eyes at me as Dominic leaned in and whispered, “Play nice.”

“I wasn’t with anyone,” Levin snorted. “No one that mattered anyway.”

I was on my feet, and before I could think it through, I pitched my salad at him. It covered him in bits of dressing, lettuce, and croutons. Some even hit Celeste. Not that I cared. In fact, I’d been aiming for her a bit too.

I knew he was mad at me, but that was a low blow. It made my heart hurt to hear I didn’t matter. I may not matter to him now, but I at least thought he'd given a shit then. He had saved my life. He had lain with me in bed after and whispered all those things to me. I hadn’t forgotten.

Maybe it was his anger and bitterness talking, but it didn’t matter. It was messed up and cruel. It made my feelings for him retract further.

“What the fuck?” Levin snarled, shifting Celeste off his lap.

She let out a hiss of anger, her cheeks red. People stared at us. I'd made a scene after all. I caught Fallon watching. All the lords were craning around to get a look. Great.

“Yeah, what the fuck?” I snapped back at him. “You’re such an asshole.”

“For telling the truth? That’s what you’re mad about?” He let out a bitter laugh.

I quivered as I glared at him.

He sneered at me. “I thought we were all about being truthful.”

“You're right. She didn’t matter. I’ll make sure she gets the message.” I stepped away from the table as Dominic snagged my hand.

Vincent looked between Levin and me uneasily. A piece of lettuce fell off Levin’s navy blazer as he glared back at me.

“Levy, are you going to let her get away with this?” Celeste whined, brushing lettuce off her arm. “Do something!”

“Yeah, Levy. Do something,” I snarled at him.
