A Forever Series Box Set: A Paranormal Reverse Harem-(Book 11-15) - Page 422

“I am stronger than you. I was…you couldn’t have fought me off.” He is absolutely certain of this fact and it makes me smile to myself. He is right though, I couldn’t have gotten away from him, it’s just a good thing that I didn’t want to.

“Keep telling yourself that,” I say, patting him on the cheek, and then ducking out from his stifling stance. I make it another two steps before a thought occurs to me. A horrible, crushing thought that has literally popped up out of nowhere. It has never even occurred to me before, for some unknown reason. “Is that what you wanted?” I ask him, still facing away from him. “Was that something that you really wanted to do to me?”

“No. Not with you,” he rasps to my satisfaction. “It was a snap decision that backfired on me in the worst way.” I can hear the smile in his voice now and it incenses me. Even now, he can’t maintain an emotion so that I know where his head is at.

I nod, unable to speak as he has hurt me. Backfired? How can he say that to me? He enjoyed it as much as I did. I know that. I cling to that as I carry on walking away. He is messing with my head big time and it must stop. I must make him stop and decide if he is hanging around here because wants me back, or just because he is at a loose end now that he has lost his employer. I force myself to keep walking. I can’t look back. I just can’t.

When I turn a corner, I pause, letting out the breath I had been holding and regrouping, before I close my eyes and manage to sense my new sibling on the other side of nearby door.

I don’t bother with pleasantries, such as knocking, I just barge in and slam the door behind me, leaning against it for support.

Cade is knelt on the floor, looking for all the World like a broken man.

“I know it sucks,” I say. “But you are better off away from her.”

“I loved her,” he says, not looking at me. “I…thought…I was in love with her. How? Why?”

“I don’t know,” I answer honestly. “I feel the same way.”

His steel grey eyes find mine with a look of sorrow. “Yes, I…remember you were there. I saw you once or twice. You were sad. Not happy like I was. I didn’t understand, but now I do. It’s fucked up.”

“Sad?” I jump on that straight away.

“Yeah, in your eyes. You were smiling, but I could see you weren’t happy. I tried to ask you once but Pyleah stopped me from talking to you. Literally,” he adds bitterly.

“Jesus,” I breathe out. How does he remember everything, and I don’t? My only guess is the crack I had in my sanity which lead me to forget everything once the spelling wore off.

“Yeah.”

We stand there in silence for a few seconds and then he gives me a searching look. “You’re different. Well, not you exactly, your…our bond. It’s returned.”

I nod. “We are siblings now.”

His eyebrows go up. “What?”

“Long story.” I brush it off, not wanting to distract from his suffering.

Suffering. Hmm.

“Did she let you feed?” I ask carefully. I still have no idea if I did while under the Light Fae magic spell.

His eyes flash and he lets out a sudden growl that reverberates around the room.

Guess not then.

He goes feral and pounces on me, fangs and claws drawn.

I brace myself as he pushes me further back into the door and clamps down on my neck in a vicious snap of his jaw that makes me yelp. All too soon, though, the pleasure kicks in–in a major way. He is my sibling now in the twisted way that Remiel is also his sire. He feels it too. His cock is digging into my hip as he presses his body even closer to me as he drinks deeply from me.

I allow him this violation because he is clearly starving. It must have been months since he fed.

“Liv,” he gasps as he pulls back, his blood-stained lips inches from mine.

“Don’t,” I say, pushing him back.

He stumbles and shakes his head, coming to his senses.

“Thanks,” he mumbles.
