Blood Wolf (Vintage Collection) - Page 21

Damian said nothing.

“You’ve been so quiet since we got back,” Suzanne said. “I thought for sure that comment would get you.”

“We don’t call them that here.”

“What?”

“Mosquitoes. We call them midgies.”

“Oh.” Her first comment had gone right over his head, obviously.

“And they love foreigners, by the way. We should get you some bug repellent.”

“I’ll be fine.”

“I’m immune myself. Never been bitten.”

“Damian, I don’t give a damn about the mosquitoes, or midgies, or whatever. I just told you that Isabella and I danced naked out here. Don’t you have anything to say to that?”

“Why?”

“Why did we dance naked?”

“Aye.”

“It was Isabella’s idea. She needed to draw down the moon or something. It’s a ritual she does during the full moon.”

“Oh?” Damian looked away. What was bothering him?

“Yeah. She’s a witch.”

“Mmm hmm.” He stared intently toward the sky, the reflective light from the gibbous moon illuminating his beautiful features.

“I just told you my cousin is a witch.”

“Aye. I heard you.”

“So aren’t you going to tell me I’m crazy? That there’s no such thing as witches?”

He tore his gaze from the moon and looked into her eyes. “Why would I do that?”

“Well, because—” She let out a huff of air. “Because there’s no such thing as witches, that’s why.”

“Of course there are witches, love. Merlina was a witch. It makes perfect sense for Isabella to be one.”

“Merlina was a witch?”

“Aye.”

“Oh, God.”

“What?”

“Never mind.” She changed the subject. Quickly. “You were a million miles away a minute ago. What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. I just don’t like thinking about the full moon.”

“Even if I’m dancing naked under it?” She grinned, teasing. At least she hoped it was a teasing grin. She had no idea. She had never been much of a flirt.

“Especially if you’re dancing naked under it.” He pulled her into a tight embrace and pressed his lips to the soft skin under her ear. “I only want you dancing naked for me.”

Suzanne shuddered, and her blood raced through her veins. She lifted her lips for his kiss and melted into the heat of his embrace as he nibbled at her mouth. No one kissed like Damian. He savored her mouth, made love to it. Made her feel like this kiss was the only kiss they would both ever experience. Her flesh quivered and her womb ached, and he hadn’t even touched his tongue to hers yet.

Anxious to move things along, she parted her lips and tasted him, outlining his full lips with her tongue. Mmm. Raspberries. The Frangelico they had enjoyed with their dessert. Plus Damian’s own musky maleness. Had there ever been a more enticing flavor?

He groaned as he returned her kiss. His beautiful long-fingered hand framed her face and stroked her cheeks. Then he moved one hand to her nape and tilted her head, giving him access to her neck and throat. His talented lips roamed over cheeks and licked her ear, her neck, nibbling, biting, licking to soothe the skin.

“Oh, Damian.” Suzanne’s voice was soft and husky and sounded as though it came from somewhere else.

“Aye, love.”

He continued his assault with his lips while he moved his hands from her neck to her shoulders and then trailed down her arms in feathery caresses. Up her waist he went, settling on her breasts. She tingled all over as he cupped her, rubbing her nipples through her shirt and bra. Her pussy clenched with a need to be filled.

“Ah,” she moaned.

Damian lowered his head and bit her nipple through two layers of clothing, but it felt as if she were naked. She pulled his hips to her and ground her pelvis into his erection. She smiled at his groan.

“Aye, love. That’s it.”

She wanted this man. She wanted to share her body with him tonight in a timeless dance different from anything she had experienced.

“Damian?”

“Hmm?” He bit her nipple again, and she shuddered, her flesh quivering as she nearly lost her balance.

“Let’s… That is, I want…” Her voice trailed off as his warm hands slid under her shirt, up her back, and then under the clasp of her bra.

“What, love?” His voice was breathy, raspy. “What do you want?”

“You. I want you.”

He scooped her into his arms as if she weighed no more than a child and headed toward the castle. Neither said a word as he ascended the staircase and opened the door to her room.

He laid her gently on the bed and covered her body with his, pushing against her with his cock and kissing her mouth with abandon. She felt every ounce of his passion, his desire for her. Arching her body into his, she moaned his name.

And the unexpected happened.

He broke the kiss and stood up. The fire in his eyes smoldered, but he backed away.

“Damian?”

“I’ll go now, love.”

“Wh-What?”

“I won’t push you.”

“It’s okay. Push me. For God’s sake, push me!”

“Not tonight, mo cridhe.”

Suzanne’s unsated lust burned. He wasn’t really going to leave her, was he? After he had been begging her for the last two days?
