Touch Me (You & Me 2) - Page 41

She was playing innocent and he wasn’t going to fall for it. He stood inside his office waiting for her to follow. She stared at him, growled and stomped inside as if she were going before a firing squad. He was grinning like an idiot as he closed the door behind her.

“Sit, sit,” he gestured to the couch and chairs in the office.

“Ben, I am not telling you anything,” she blurted out before he even got the chance to grill her.

He shook his head. “Oh, yes you are. I want details. Well, not details, but I want to know how it went.”

She groaned and flopped down on the sofa. “I’m not saying anything. I don’t kiss and tell.”

“Yes, you do.”

“I hate you,” she said half-heartedly.

He ignored her words and grinned, sitting in the chair across from her. “Soooo,” he dragged out the word, knowing he would get it out of her eventually.

“So, what? Shouldn’t you be working or something? It’s a Monday. You have to be swamped. You don’t have time to sit around gossiping like a teenage girl.”

“I came in early,” he shrugged.

“What do you want to know?” she playfully snapped.

He waggled his eyebrows. “You and Will seemed to be having a good time Friday night.”

“Yes, we did.”

“Rachel, you’re killing me. What do you think? Do you like him?”

She closed her eyes. She was only playing difficult. He knew she wanted to tell him. They were truly best friends and told each other almost everything.

“I do,” she said with a sigh.

He grinned. “I knew it. Don’t you wish you would have agreed to go out with him sooner?”

She shrugged. “Maybe, but I think there is a time for everything. This is our time. If I would have met him earlier maybe we wouldn’t have hit it off nearly as well as we did.”

“Damn, you’re like a wise Yoda.”

She rolled her eyes. “What about you and Katherine? How was your night?”

“My weekend,” he said, not hiding his smile.

“Wow, that’s a big step.”

He nodded. “It is and I’m not the least bit freaked out.”

“Wow. You really like her.”

“I do.”

“And?”

“And what?” he asked.

“How is she? Are you guys getting serious?”

This was what he had really been hoping to talk to her about. “I think I am,” he confessed, leaning forward and looking into her eyes.

Rachel smiled, cocking her head to the side. “What about her? Where is her head at?”
