Nothing Special V (Nothing Special 5) - Page 67

“Tech told me about your extremely stiff…” Steele looked down at God’s straining erection, flicking his nose and sniffing before he continued. “… um, policy on getting off in the workplace.”

“Shut up, Steele,” God grumbled with very little authority. He was busted; he couldn’t be pissed at Steele about it.

“Lieutenant. Was it the sparring with me that really got you going, or was it Day’s—”

“Steele,” Day hissed, his face still in his hands.

“I’m flattered, really.” Steele coughed to cover his laughter.

God finally leveled a look on Steele that told him he wouldn’t be wise to keep this up much longer.

“I was just on my way back up, so I think I’ll continue that way. Wanted to make sure you were good, God. Annnnd, I see that you most definitely are.” Steele smiled smugly. “See you when you get off… oops… I mean get up there.”

God watched Steele saunter off. He couldn’t help but curse under his breath. What did you do when one of your employees got the drop on you… just sucked it up. “No wonder he gets along so well with Ruxs and Green, the bastard.”

“Let’s just go get this meeting over with.” Day sighed and stood up.

“I’m sorry. I know that was stupid. It won’t happen again.”

“Yeah, right.” Day shook his head at him, but God saw the spark in those bright eyes.

Steele

Steele was glad that everyone was gone by the time he made it back upstairs. Ruxs and Green were going to visit Ruxs’ mom and Syn was sitting in on an interrogation. Since Steele doubted Day and God were going to show their horny mugs again today, that left him alone with Tech. He walked through the doors and ate up the distance with hurried steps. Tech turned around just as he got to him, surprise registering on his face when Steele grabbed his hand and pulled him from the chair.

“What are you—?”

Steele dragged Tech to his equipment room and quickly punched in the numeric code. After entering, he didn’t bother turning on the lights, instead, he pulled Tech inside and plastered himself to his sleek body. He sealed his mouth over those soft lips and had his way with them. Tech didn’t fight him at first, instead returning the kiss with eagerness and fire. When Steele began to go for Tech’s tucked in shirt, he finally met resistance.

“Jesus Christ,” Tech said, tearing his mouth away and catching Steele’s hands. “What is going on? We’ll get caught.”

Steele caught Tech’s wrist and walked him deeper inside the narrow enclosure. The minimal lighting came from Tech’s screensavers and the recessed lights in the weapons cabinets. “I wouldn’t worry about that. I think we might get a pass if we do.”

“No, we won’t, trust me.” Tech snickered, still fighting Steele’s persistent hands.

“Go to dinner with me. I’m done waiting. It’s going on a month. I’ve been understanding… and patient.” Steele’s voice dropped lower and lower as he watched Tech try to get away from him, but he was trapped and that spiked a whole new level of hunger within him. He could eat Tech right there. He didn’t know what had gotten into him, maybe the adrenaline of the match still flooding his body, or seeing his hot as fuck lieutenants getting down and dirty. Whatever the cause, Steele was burning with an uncontrollable yearning.

“I… I… okay. Yeah, I’ll go out with you.” Tech smiled like he’d actually been waiting on Steele to ask him again. “But can I just ask one thing?”

“You can ask whatever you want to,” Steele whispered, crowding into Tech’s space.

“Why me? I know we’ve been talking for a while, and I’ve been immensely enjoying it. But you set your sights on me pretty early, and I never even asked you why. Of all the men around here… and in Atlanta. Why do you want me?” Tech gestured at his sweater vest, jeans, and Vans. “I’m sorry if it offends you but, please. I have to know.”

Steele’s fire cooled at the look of pleading and misunderstanding in Tech’s eyes. He thought about how he wanted to word this so that Tech best understood. Steele wasn’t the most articulate at explaining his feelings; he was an actions kind of man. But if Tech wanted an explanation, he’d do his best.

He motioned for Tech to sit on the stool while he stood between his spread legs. He made sure his focus was on him before he spoke. “Shawn, I like you for so many different reasons, I’m not sure where to start.” Steele rubbed his hand over the prickly hairs on his jaw while Tech continued to stare. “It’s simply because you’re you. Because you are amazing and complex in your own right. You may think, because of who I am, because I’m strong, that I’d only be attracted to buff, weight-lifting maniacs, but that’s wrong. I’ve been around men like that for a very long time. When I first saw you, standing amongst Ruxs, Green, and God… babe… I thought you looked like a glass of lemonade in the middle of the Sahara. Refreshing and completely unrealistic.”
