Promises Part 3 (Bounty Hunters 3) - Page 72

“I’m yours,” Dana whispered tenderly.

Ford’s body went rigid as he chanted in Dana’s ear. Into his mind. Accenting every word with a determined thrust. “Yeah. You’re. Mine. Love it when you say that. Love it. Love it… love you. Auuuugh, Dana!”

Dana eyes widened. He’d heard it. Heard it the exact same time he felt Ford’s cock thicken and pulse inside him. Ford shook and trembled with his release, stroking Dana’s damp hair and nuzzling behind his ear, still murmuring and promising Dana forever.

He closed his eyes and believed every word.

Ford loved him. He hadn’t thought he’d hear it anytime soon and he especially hadn’t thought he’d hear it now. While they were… But Dana wasn’t mistaken and it wasn’t a hoax. Some may be turned off by or skeptical of a man confessing his love – for the first time – during a mind-blowing orgasm, but Dana wasn’t one of them. He knew Ford meant it. He never said anything he didn’t mean. Ford told him and showed him this morning that he loved him. And damn, what a show it was. Encore.

Ford

“Baby. Babe. Dana!” Ford called louder from the bathroom door. “We gotta go.”

Dana rose tiredly from his nap and peeked one bloodshot eye open. They’d been working day and night all week. All of them looked like warmed up shit.

“No,” Dana groaned sadly. “I just went to sleep.”

“Come on,” Ford said, pulling up his leather pants. “Duke just got an anonymous tip that two of John Grossman’s top guys were seen driving a black Infinity SUV in Grove Park.”

Dana was up and moving, throwing his gear back on. He looked ready to work but he also looked beat. Ford had to admit, he was feeling the fatigue too, but he was trained to fight through it. He could rest when he died. It was harsh, but the motto he lived by. He was just as ready as the rest of his team to get this bounty closed out. He and Dana had only made love again once, and while it was wonderful, Ford wanted to have the energy to make it explosive. Right now, he pushed himself to put one foot in front of the other. It was dangerous to work under these conditions. Ford knew it in his gut. Their reflexes weren’t as sharp when they were so sleep-deprived.

They’d had a total of five hours of sleep in two days. To say they’d beefed up their surveillance was a gross understatement. They were right on John Grossman’s ass. He had to know his freedom and his reign as meth king on the streets of Atlanta, were soon coming to an end. Not only was Duke’s crew looking for Grossman, but the APD had a warrant for his arrest in connection with a drug deal gone terribly bad last month that’d ended in casualties, one of them being an innocent bystander. They believed John Grossman had something – everything – to do with it. A final hit, a big payoff before he was to jump town. Now it was a race to the finish. If Duke lost Grossman to the APD, he’d lose the bounty. Therefore, all the work they’d done for weeks would be for nothing… not one dime.

When they were set to go, Ford waited for Dana to finish checking his rifle bag. He always had it ready, but he still double-checked it before he walked out the door. Brian was on his way to ride with them. When they got to Grove Park, they’d split up into teams.

Dana dropped his bag by the door and leaned heavily against it, pinching the creases between his brows. Ford walked up to him and pressed him into the hard surface.

“You okay?”

“I’m good, babe. Don’t worry about me. Stay focused.” Dana opened his eyes and answered. He put his arms around Ford’s waist and held him close, resting his forehead on his shoulder.

It was as if Ford’s touch brought Dana comfort. He put his hand on Dana’s unshaven jaw, waiting for him to turn into it and kiss his palm like always. When Dana didn’t, still standing motionless with his eyes unfocused, Ford’s nerves ramped up. His partner looked too tired to even remain upright.

“Baby. You look dead on your feet. I think….”

“No.” Dana cut him off, trying to open his eyes wider. “I’m good.”

Fuck. Ford didn’t like this. He wanted to intervene on Dana’s behalf, but he knew his partner wouldn’t appreciate that at all. He couldn’t go behind Dana’s back. Ford wasn’t the boss, but he wasn’t afraid to tell Duke that he was pushing his guys too hard. They were true beasts. But even beasts rest sometimes.

Ford tilted Dana’s head up, looking down into eyes surrounded by dark circles and bags. “When this is over I’m taking you somewhere. Away.”
