Glimmer (Glimmer and Glow 1) - Page 68

Emotion expanded in her breast. She cherished the moments with him, and that was a truth she feared. It was hard not to face that fear, though, when they were joined like two halves of a whole and she breathed in his scent.

“Dylan?” she whispered cautiously.

“Yeah?” he replied. She loved the sound of his low, rough voice behind her. He pressed his mouth to her pulse.

“I’m sorry. I don’t know why I was so edgy and …” Difficult, she finished silently. He’d been right, of course. She had been spoiling for something, and it wasn’t a fight.

“It’s okay,” he rumbled, planting a kiss on her shoulder and lingering to taste her sweat with his tongue.

“It is?” she asked uncertainly. It was okay for her to taunt and tease him?

She felt him nod because his face was pressed between her neck and shoulder. “Yeah,” he said gruffly, his lips moving in a sweet glide against her neck. She shivered and turned her chin. Their mouths touched, clung, and parted ever so slightly.

“I missed you like hell, too, Alice.”

He caught her surprised gasp of pleasure at his admission with his mouth, and then he was kissing her again, deep and sound.

HALF an hour later, they dried off after a languorous shower in Dylan’s luxurious bathroom. Alice wrapped the towel around her, securing it at her breasts, and watched him breathlessly. He arched his brows when he noticed her enthralled expression as he dried his hard hair-sprinkled thighs with a fluffy white towel. He’d washed her with soapy, sensuous hands minutes ago and brought her to climax with his slippery fingers. Their lazy, delicious shower play had hardened him again. His cock protruded from between his muscular thighs. He was so beautiful. He’d caught her admiring him, but for once, she didn’t mind. Somehow, his saying what she’d been too afraid to tell him—I missed you like hell—had made her a little freer in showing her feelings.

“Wouldn’t you like me to do something about that?” she asked, nodding at his cock. She’d tried to return the favor or orgasm in the shower, but he’d enigmatically told her they’d let it wait.

He smiled that sex-god smile. His cock tented the towel in the front when he wrapped it low on his hips. He reached for her and she went into the circle of his arms. She pressed her nose against his humid warm skin, her hunger mounting at the sensation of his cockhead poking at her lower belly through their towels.

“I want your mouth on me,” he growled near her ear. She shivered in excitement and reached for him. He grasped her wrist and pushed it back to her side. “Soon. I’ll tell you what I want when the time is right.”

“Oh you will, will you?” she asked archly, both miffed and mystified. She wasn’t irritated enough at his cocky reply to stop herself from kissing his chest, loving the contrast of wiry hair and smooth skin against her lips.

“Bet on it,” he said, caressing her shoulders. His hand rose to her face, his thumbs hovering near her eyebrows. She obligingly closed her eyes. He caressed her eyelid with his fingertip. “You have the longest eyelashes I’ve ever seen. Your eyes are so beautiful.”

“Thank you,” she murmured, entranced by his low, rough voice and gentle touch.

“I hate that you darken your eyebrows,” he murmured. “And you shouldn’t put so much liner and mascara on your eyes.”

Embarrassment fractured her lassitude. “You sound like Maggie,” she said, referring to her graduate school advisor and landlord. “She’s always reminding me that I’m a walking fashion mistake.”

“She just doesn’t like to see you hiding behind so much dark makeup or hair dye. You’re stunning. Why should you hide it?”

She blinked her eyelids open at that, and he moved aside his finger. For a lung-burning moment, their gazes clung.

“Oh well,” he said after a moment, still studying her closely. “Maybe it’s best for now.”

nbsp; “What do you mean?” she said with a laugh, puzzled.

He just shook his head, as if to say it wasn’t important. “I noticed you didn’t bring a bag. You’re planning on staying tonight, right?”

She nodded her head.

“I have some clothes for you, including some dresses.”

“Are we dressing up?”

He nodded. “I’m taking you to dinner at a place that’s an hour or so up the coast. But we’re going somewhere else first.”

Pleasure rushed through her at the idea of spending so much time alone with him. Another thought intruded.

“Where did you get the clothes?” she asked. He gave her a long-suffering, sardonic glance at her suspicious tone. “I mean … it’s not clothing left by one of your old girlfriends or something, is it?”
