What Love Looks Like - Page 26

When I glance up, I find her glassy eyes looking at me, silently wishing she could fix me, but what she doesn’t realize is that she’s already started to. I spent the past five years broken, and in just a few days, Sawyer has begun piecing me back together. I’m not perfect, and the pieces are jagged, and hell, some are still missing, but I feel a thousand times more complete because of her.

My lips meet hers in a slow, sensual caress, silently conveying how much she already means to me. How much I want and need her. She returns the kiss, her fingers dragging through my hair as her center grinds against my pelvis, stoking the flames between us. She reaches down and pulls my dick out of its confines. Stroking it a few times, she pushes her underwear to the side and takes me into her.

Gripping the curves of her hips, I stand and walk us to the wall, pushing her against it. I thrust into her, and the sparks I felt before catch on fire, burning hot between us. I fuck her fast and deep against the wall until my orgasm slams through me and my hot seed fills her. It’s then I realize I’ve lost my head with this woman. She owns me in every way—mind, body, and soul—and I know I’ll do everything in my power to keep her.

When we’ve both come down from our high, I pull out and watch as my cum drips down the inside of her thigh. Shit! No wonder she felt so good. We didn’t use a condom. Her wide eyes meet mine, and I can tell she’s just put the pieces together as well, but before she can say a word, I crash my mouth against hers, lifting her into my arms and carrying her to the bathroom so we can shower together.

Once we’re both clean, we lie in her bed, me spooning her from behind. “My body fits the curve of yours so perfectly,” I whisper into her ear, nestling my face into the crook of her neck. “We fit so perfectly.”

She nods once, and I worry she’s upset because I came in her, so I turn her around to face me. “I’m sorry I came in you.” She nods again. “If you’re pregnant…”

“No,” she says, shaking her head. “Don’t go there. I’m going to drive off the island tomorrow and pick up a pill.”

For some crazy reason, the thought of her taking something to ensure I can’t get her pregnant doesn’t sit well with me, but I get it. We just met. She was screwed over by a man before, and I can’t blame her for not wanting to take that chance again.

“I’m sorry,” I tell her again. “I was caught up in the moment, and I fucked up.”

“It’s okay,” she says, kissing the corner of my mouth before she snuggles into my chest. “I was caught up in the moment just as much as you were.”

She kisses my nipple, and I shiver at her touch. I need this woman—not just for this week but forever. I need her words, her touch, her kisses. I need everything that is her. “Sawyer, what if, at the end of your vacation, we didn’t—”

But she doesn’t let me finish. She lifts her head and kisses me tenderly. “Don’t say it,” she murmurs against my lips. “We only have a few days left, and I want to spend them with you. And if you say what I think you’re going to say, you’ll ruin it.”

“But—”

“No,” she says firmly. “Your life is in New York playing football, and mine is in Tennessee on my family’s ranch, and come August, teaching high school.”

Her words brook no room for argument, and really, she’s not wrong. We live several states apart, and in a few weeks, I’ll be signing a contract that ensures New York owns me for at least the next three years. Sawyer deserves more than I can give her. She’s young and is just starting her life and deserves to begin her career without having to worry about long-distance phone calls and video chats.

With a heavy heart, I mentally fill a bucket of water and douse the fire blazing between us, watching as the smoke plumes and wishing shit were different, but knowing it’s not.

CHAPTER NINE

HUDSON

“Oh my God,” Sawyer moans, sitting up and wrapping the blanket around her naked body, save for the tiny thong she has on. “That felt so freaking amazing. I want to do it again... like now.”

I laugh as I sit up as well, not bothering with the blanket since I’m in my briefs. “I told you it would be good.” I edge off the bed and walk over to the one she’s sitting on, caging her in and kissing her softly. “We can do it again if you want, but I was thinking we could also take this back to your room since we still have a few more hours until the kids get out of camp.”
