Lunchtime Chronicles: Passion Fruit - Page 17

“No. I’m used to cooking for four people. I always have leftovers because it’s hard to get out of the habit.”

“Hmmm. Then, maybe one night. . .I could take the boys and you out to eat. Give you a break from cooking.”

Her soft expression shifted to stern. “No, thank you.”

“No?”

“No.” She ran her fingers through her hair. “I should go.”

“You’re really not going to let me take you out, not even with the boys?”

“Especially not with my boys.”

“And not on your own?”

“Correct.”

“Because you don’t date neighbors?”

“Exactly.”

I leaned my head to the side. “So, who do you date?”

If I see a guy come around, I’m going to do some serious cock blocking. Do you understand that?

She shrugged. “I haven’t dated in three years.”

Stunned, I stepped back. “No dating at all?”

“None.”

“What about. . .sex?”

“No dating, then no sex.”

“Some people have sex without dating.”

“Not me.”

“So, you haven’t had sex in three years?”

“Yep.”

“Are you okay down there?”

She laughed. “Excuse me?”

“That has to be painful.”

“Somehow, I’ve managed.”

“You should let me take care of that.”

She smirked. “I take care of it just fine.”

“I’m sure you take care of it a little.” I imagined her naked with her legs open and her fingers strumming her pussy. “But, unfortunately, you can’t tickle yourself. That’s the same with true passion and pleasure.”

“Wow. What sage advice.”

“I have more lessons.”

“And what will I be learning?”

“Proper self-care as a mother. You work too hard each day to not have someone making you moan.”

She bit her bottom lip. “And you would do that for me?”

“Right now, if you need it.” I took a chance and whispered, “Please.”

“This steak is perfect!” Zachary yelled from the porch. “Nadia, will you marry me?”

She yelled back, “I’ll have to think about!”

“You would think about it with him?” I grinned.

She smirked. “He’s hot.”

“We’re twins.”

“He’s also not my neighbor.”

“Marry me, my little nymph!” Zachary yelled. “These potatoes are insane too!”

“Good night.” Laughing, she headed to her house.

I turned around and went to mine. “Can you shut up, Zachary?”

“Bro, she’s hot as fuck.”

I got on the porch. “Don’t even think about it.”

“Not even a little nasty thought?”

“Not even a little one.”

He followed me inside and shut the door. “You like her?”

“I like her cooking and the shape of her ass.”

“Many marriages were created just from that.” Zachary sat at the table and dove back into his food, slathering it all up like a pig. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“You’re eating my food.”

“She gave it to me.”

“What happened to Siena’s cooking?”

“She doesn’t cook this good. I’m about to be over here more.”

I scowled. “Don’t even think about it.”

“I can’t spend time with my brother.” He lifted up the container and licked it. “Bro, she might give Mom competition.”

I eyed him. “Speaking of Mom, did you call her?”

“Yeah. She was with Robert. It was a picnic on the beach.”

“I know. I said Happy Birthday.” I grabbed a beer from the fridge, opened it, and took a long pull.

“You hear from Shark?”

“Yeah.” Taking another swig, I went over the sink and gazed out the window.

Three years without sex? Is she serious?

Light flicked on in her house. I raised my gaze to the second story. Nadia’s curvy shadow moved along the curtains. My cock jerked awake.

Zachary grabbed my attention. “Can you believe that?”

I looked at him. “Huh?”

“Lucas got bailed out again.”

“Is that right?” I looked back, but didn’t see her silhouette anymore.

“Shark told us to be careful, just in case Lucas wants to take out some revenge.”

“Fuck Lucas. If he comes around here, I’ll twist his head off.” I drank more beer.

“Damn this is good. Is your neighbor single?”

“Yes.”

“Kids?”

“Two boys.”

“Fuck.” Zachary shook his head. “Single mothers always want more than fucking.”

I left the window. “Doesn’t matter. She doesn’t date neighbors.”

“Once you hit her with the Nicholson swoon. She’ll be all yours.” Zachary scooped up his pie with his hand and ate it.

“You barbarian. That’s my pie.”

“It’s good too.” He mumbled between bites. Filling dripped down his fingers.

My brother left an hour later.

In my bedroom, I looked out the window and checked Nadia’s house before heading to bed. All her lights were off, except for the kitchen.

She needs a security alarm. Maybe, a dog too.

I didn’t like the idea of someone being able to go over there and break into her place, while I was asleep. At the bare minimum, I wanted some noise maker to let me know. Once I heard, I would be on my feet and grabbing my gun.

Three years without sex?!!

I peeled off my clothes and slid into bed.

Nadia. Nadia. I must fuck you.

unday went by with no problem.

Cory and Trey took Zain a plate.

They returned from Zain’s house with several bags of groceries—choice meats, vegetables, fruit, and lots of chocolate. One bag held a single rose and a thank you note.

That made me swoon the rest of the day.
