Sofa King Wrong - Page 20

“It—”

Both his eyes and Levi’s flick from me to something behind me, up the driveway.

“Diesel? Is everything—”

I turn just in time to see Alyssa — still just wearing that thin t-shirt and panties — gasp and jump back behind the hedges.

“I’ll be right in. We’re good out here,” I say quietly.

She nods, face red over the hedge. Her eyes lock on mine, glinting wickedly before she turns and darts back inside. I turn back to Kane and Levi to see them both looking at me with grins on their smug faces.

“Eyes to your fuckin’ selves, dicks,” I growl.

Kane chuckles. “You know I’ve only got eyes for one woman. And she’s waiting for me, by the way, while I drive all the way up here to the Hollywood fucking Hills to drop you off a bag for your week playing bodyguard to celebrities and not working for my company. But shit, seems you don’t need clothes for this job.”

I smile and he sighs.

“So, you mixed up with her?”

I turn and glare at Levi. “Mind your own business, kid.”

Levi rolls his eyes. “Buddy, you’re out here in your fucking boxers ready to throw down to protect her honor, and then she comes out dressed like that? You ain’t exactly playing it coy, man.”

“How I’m playing whatever is my own business. You just keep your eyes to yourself,” I growl.

He snorts. “C’mon, brother. You’re mad at us for looking? The girl is famous, man. The whole world looks at her like—”

“He gets it,” Kane growls, glaring at his brother.

Levi sighs, shaking his head. “You know what I’m saying, D.”

I smile wryly. “I know. Sorry, I’m just… I’m on edge.”

Kane nods, eying me closely. “This just fun or is—”

“It’s more than that,” I hiss, my muscles clenching. Kane’s brows raise, and he nods slowly.

“It’s a lot more than that,” I say quietly.

He grins. “Well, then I don’t have shit to say, now do I?”

“You can try.”

He chuckles. “Look, if she’s worth it, she’s worth it. And I know you enough to know that you know that. Here.”

He yanks a duffle off of the back of his bike and hands it to me. “If you do decide to wear clothes while you’re here, you’re fucking welcome.”

“Thanks, guys.” I nod.

“Good luck,” he chuckles, clapping me on the back. “I think you’re gonna need it.”

“Try and stay hydrated, man,” Levi grins. “Just remember that you’re not eighteen. Don’t have a fuckin’ heart attack on us.”

I chuckle, feigning a punch at him before they both turn and head back to their bikes.

Kane glances back at me. “Diesel?”

I raise a brow.

“She worth it?”

“And then some.”

I watch them ride off before I turn back to the house.

Back to the girl I’ve somehow fallen headfirst in love with in the span of a day.

Alyssa

The fire crackles as I snuggle into him, his big arms circling around me and pulling me close. I pull the blanket up, even if it’s not even really cold out. But the first fire in the fire pit in the backyard of your new Hollywood Hills mansion deserves blankets.

I don’t know if they “deserve” a big, hot, gorgeous, sexy as hell, and hung like a horse bodyguard who’s just changed your entire view of the world and blown your mind. But, tonight, this fire sure does. And that’s exactly what I’ve got.

“You know we should be inside.”

I shake my head, leaning back against his thick, bare, muscled chest.

“No, c’mon, it’s beautiful out here.”

“It’s exposed.”

I roll my eyes as It turn my head, craning up to kiss his stubbled jaw.

“Relax.”

Diesel smirks. “It’s not my job to.”

“I could help with that, you know.”

I grind back into him, pushing my ass against his thick cock. He’s not even really fully hard yet, and that thing is already huge and throbbing against me. I shiver heatedly, thinking of earlier.

Wanting more.

I only caught a glimpse of what happened at the gates to my house earlier, but I do know that when Diesel strode back into the house, there was this fire in his eyes. This heat. This blazing, commanding power that sizzled through me as he stormed right over to me, scooped me into his arms, and kissed me like he never wanted to stop.

His idea was to head back upstairs. Mine was the fire outside. But that sure as hell doesn’t mean I didn’t want exactly what he was thinking.

I know this is crazy. I know it’s insane, and maybe wrong, and probably dangerous — certainly for my career. But I don’t care. I can’t even begin to care, actually. Because crazy or not, I know what I feel. I know what explodes through me at just the thought of him, or at the nearness of him.

I know the idea of not being with him hurts.

So screw what they say. Screw the danger and the possibility of scandal. All I want is him.
